Jonathan grew up locally before becoming the first in his family to leave for university. He built his career advising firms on financial regulation and returned home to Norfolk after the pandemic.
He now represents Wymondham Central as both a Wymondham Town Councillor and a South Norfolk District Councillor.
Jonathan’s wife works for the NHS in Norwich and his daughter is studying for her GCSEs. They have a schnauzer named Stewart and a large F1 labradoodle named Denzil.
Dear Wymondham Neighbour
Thank you to everyone who put their trust in me to represent Wymondham Central in our recent by-elections.
I stood because I believed Wymondham deserved better — and I still believe that. Now that I am serving as both a Town and District Councillor, I am working to turn those priorities into practical action.
Wymondham is a wonderful town, but it needs councils that listen properly, spend money sensibly and focus on the things residents actually need. After years of house-building, we need better facilities, stronger local services and proper protection for the character and identity of the Town.
What I’m Working For
I want councils that work together better, explain their decisions clearly and concentrate on improving everyday life in Wymondham — not playing silly ideological games.
That means pushing for sensible financial management, practical support for our town centre, better local facilities, protection for Wymondham’s heritage and countryside, and a clear voice against proposals that would weaken Wymondham’s local identity.
Sensible Financial Management
I am pressing for your money to be spent sensibly — on things Wymondham actually needs, with proper accountability and less waste.
Wymondham Town Centre
A thriving town centre matters. I want the Town and District Councils to work better together to support local businesses, improve the public realm and make Wymondham a more attractive place to shop, visit and spend time.
Better Facilities for Young and Old
Wymondham needs a period of catch-up after all the house-building of recent years. I am pressing for more GP capacity, better access at the railway station, improved bus shelters, better play equipment for children in local parks, and the return of proper banking services in the town.
Keeping Wymondham Special
From the conservation area in the middle of town to the countryside views from Chapel Lane and Tuttles Lane, Wymondham’s heritage and identity need defending. I will continue to resist inappropriate over-development and support decisions that respect the character of the town.
Keeping Wymondham Distinct from Norwich
Wymondham must not simply become an extension of Norwich. I oppose proposals that would mean higher council tax, weaker local accountability or urban sprawl reaching from Norwich to Wymondham.
Please Stay in Touch
If there is a local issue you think needs fixing, or something you think I should be raising as your councillor, please get in touch.
Best wishes,
Jonathan Purle
Town & District Councillor for Wymondham Central
